About Us

We are the Oregon and Southern Washington section, officially called Section 7, of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), a worldwide professional organization primarily made up of electrical engineers, serving approximately 400,000 members. The Vision Statement of the organization is to “be essential to the global technical community and to technical professionals everywhere, and be universally recognized for the contributions of technology and of technical professionals in improving global conditions.”

Section 7, with almost four thousand active members, stays connected through active information sharing, networking, and a host of other community-serving activities, as described in our mission statement. This publication is a valuable asset to achieving those goals.

This newly revamped BEEEP is presently managed by Dr. Christopher Jacobs, Public Relations Chair.

As our primary goal is to keep our members informed about issues relevant to our professional and personal interests, we are always looking for insertions that would meet those objectives. Our publication exists solely because of the generous contributions of time and material by our dedicated member volunteers and sponsors. There would be no publication without them, and we remain forever in their debt.

For questions, or more information on how you can contribute in any capacity, Dr. Jacobs can be reached at drjacobs@drchrisjacobs.com.

NOTE TO PRESENT AND FUTURE ADVERTISERS: This publication, the official newsletter of Section 7 of the IEEE, is an excellent way for your message to reach 4,000 practicing engineers, whose intense enthusiasm can be verified by their willingness to pay about $300/year to receive this publication, as well as other benefits awarded by the IEEE. The BEEEP is also linked to the worldwide IEEE, potentially making your message available to the worldwide membership of 400,000.
