The Occupy Movement began as a peaceful protest march on Wall Street, September 17, 2011. Its stated purpose was to call attention to perceived economic and social inequality, and to protest corporate influence on democracy, address a growing disparity in wealth, and call attention to the absence of legal repercussions behind the recent global financial crisis.
